This week, the New Orleans Saints will head to SoFi Stadium to face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season. After finally getting more involved this past week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the player to watch is WR Devaughn Vele.
Kellen Moore recently spoke about not getting Devaughn Vele on the field as much as they’d like over the last couple of weeks. He noted how much the 27-year-old deserves the opportunity—and that’s been evident, considering he entered the game against the Buccaneers
with just five targets, which went for three first down receptions, a touchdown and a drawn defensive pass interference. So it’s clear Vele makes an impact when the ball is thrown his way.
On Sunday against Tampa Bay, Vele logged a season-high 37 snaps (51%) with five targets, including a first down on his lone reception of the day. I’d like to see his role continue to increase against the Rams, whose cornerback room has been vulnerable at times this season—prompting them to trade for former Tennessee Titans CB Roger McCreary earlier this week.
