Mercedes Moné lost the CMLL Women’s World Championship at The Night of the Amazonas in Arena Mexico on Friday night (Mar. 6, 2026). The recipient of glory was Persephone.
Mercedes versus Persephone was the main event of the evening. The CEO entered in style in what I presume was a jaguar outfit.
Mercedes even had the audacity to wear a mask once the match started. That didn’t last long. Persephone tackled Mercedes to land punches. As the early
action continued, Mercedes slipped the mask over Persephone’s head. Perse headbutt Mercedes and threw the mask in her face.
The story of the match was Mercedes working the arm of Persephone, and the luchadora relying on power offense to swing the tide of momentum. Persephone wrestled tough, however, the pain prevented her from executing the Razor’s Edge finisher on several occasions.
Down the stretch, Mercedes hit the target on the Meteora double knees. Persephone kicked out on the cover. Mercedes went for the Moné Maker. Perse blocked to counter for the Razor’s Edge. Kick out by Mercedes. Persephone thought that would be enough to win. She quickly regrouped to land a springboard splash. 1, 2, 3. New champion! Mercedes’ reign ends at 210 days and counting.
This was a solid match to pass the torch from Mercedes to Persephone.
The event replay is available worldwide through the CMLL YouTube monthly subscription (Campeón Mundial and Leyenda levels). Outside Mexico, the show is also available through TrillerTV with English commentary.
