Barcelona midfielder Gavi revealed that Lamine Yamal was upset in the dressing room after being forced off with an injury in the first half of Wednesday’s win over Celta.
Yamal scored what turned out to be the winning goal from the penalty spot but played no further part in the game was he was substituted just before half-time.
Gavi says that his team-mate was upset afterwards and that his potential absence is a huge blow to Barca.
“Lamine is the best for me. Of course, it’s a really sh*t situation
for us because he’s a crucial player,” he told Movistar.
“He was upset in the locker room. I don’t know how long the injury will be, but I hope it’s as short as possible because we need him.
“It was very important to win today. It was key for us to win the league. It’s not over yet. We have to go out and win all the remaining matches. Today we did what we had to do.”
Gavi also spoke about his performance after starting out wide on the left before he was replaced at half-time.
“I’m here for whatever the manager says. I think I can play in many positions, and today I played as a false winger,” he added.
“Celta defended with a back five, which made things a bit more difficult. But I’m here for the team and the manager. I’ll have easier games and harder ones.”
Barca are back in action on Saturday afternoon in La Liga away at Getafe.
