Bayern Munich is returning to South America to scout prospects, and they’ve got their sights set on Sport Recife’s 17-year-old midfielder Ze Lucas:
The above tweet mentions that Ze Lucas is highly rated by Bayern’s scouts and it appears that they have FC Barcelona for company. Most South
American players almost always end up in Spain (La Liga) or Portugal (Primeira Liga) due to the relative ease in transition, but the Bavarians have a mind to remedy that.
Recently, a young Ecuadorian by the name of Virgilio Olaya has been signed by the Rekordmeister and is planned to go through the club’s partner clubs in the Americas. Following the whole Breno Borges affair in 2011-12, the club is apparently eager to get back into the famed hotbed of football talent. The last Brazilian to play at Bayern is Douglas Costa, whose first stint went swimmingly, his second one less so.
