There was some buzz this week after Cam Ward was asked if he wanted to be involved in selecting the next head coach for the Tennessee Titans. Here was his response:
I didn’t have a problem with his answer at all. There was nowhere in there where he said he wanted to pick the next head coach. All he said was that he wants to meet everyone they bring in and
have a conversation with them. That sounds perfectly reasonable.
If I were Chad Brinker and Mike Borgonzi, I would have each candidate sit down with Ward and let them interview each other. Watch how they interact with each other. Of course, how the new coach and Ward get along is not the only thing that matters, but it is probably the most important aspect.
The quickest way for this team to be relevant again is for them to nail this head coaching hire. The right guy can come in here, maximize what they have in Ward, and build the right culture. If that happens, the turnaround can happen pretty quickly:
What level of faith do you have in Chad Brinker and Mike Borgonzi to get it right?
