Barcelona have confirmed the signing of left-back Josue Caicedo from Ecuadorian side LDU Quito.
The transfer has been rumored for a little while now and is finally official. The 18-year-old arrives on loan with a purchase option and will link up with Juliano Belletti’s Barcelona Atletic for the 2026-27 season.
Here’s the club’s official statement:
“FC Barcelona and LDU Quito have reached an agreement for the loan of Josué Caicedo to Barça Atlètic for the 2026/27 season.
“The 18-year-old Ecuadorian footballer joins the Barça reserve team with an option to buy at the end of the season and will strengthen the squad managed by Juliano Belletti in the Segunda Federación (Spanish Second Division).”
Caicedo is a left-back who can also operate as a wing-back or further forward as a winger. He caught the eye of Barcelona’s scouts at the Under-20 Copa Libertadores and will be hoping he can make an impact in Catalunya in the new season.
