Dear Roker Report,
Hello everyone at Roker Report.
Well, if someone had said to me before this season started, we’d be sitting 9th in the Premier League with 11 points after 7 games, I’d have taken their hand off. Our return to Premier League football was met with a lot of predictions of us being one of the favourites to go back down. I take great pride at feeling rather smug that we’ve not started as bad as those people were hoping for and expecting. And while I appreciate it’s very early days, the first signs are
promising. Normally, after losing to a team like Man United, I’d be very disappointed, but I have more pride than disappointment in the lads because of how well we’ve started. It’s still all a learning experience for us again, and results like this are unfortunately going to happen! The return of the lads, and club football in general, can’t come quick enough! This team is shaping up to be one of our best in recent times, and I can’t wait to see what we can do. Ha’way the lads!

Ed’s Note [Gav]: Hear, hear Nick! We’ve had a brilliant start and I can’t wait to see how we do this season. That said, I do think that we have to be careful about what might be coming. I have no doubt that there will be a point (or various points!) this season where the results are tough and we’ve got to try and find some positivity from somewhere, and I just hope that people remember how they feel now and that we won’t become a bad team overnight.

Dear Roker Report,
The Wolves game this weekend is increasingly looking like a game we have to win.
The following 14 games against Chelsea (A), Everton (H), Arsenal (H), Fulham (A), Bournemouth (H), Liverpool (A), Man City (A), Newcastle (H), Brighton (A), Leeds (H), Man City (H), Spurs (A), Brentford (A), and Crystal Palace (H) look really tough.
It would be interesting to read your and the fans’ predicted points haul from those games.

Ed’s Note [Gav]: Phoo… now you’re asking something there, eh! I think we’ll take the majority of our points at home, as I think the Stadium of Light is going to be a tough place to come for a lot of teams. I reckon we’ll beat Wolves, lose at Chelsea, lose to Arsenal, draw away at Fulham, beat Bournemouth, lose against Liverpool and Manchester City, beat the Mags, lose away at Brighton, beat Leeds, lose to City, draw away at Spurs, draw with Brentford, beat Palace. Ask me again in a week though and it might be a totally different story!
