Heading into the 2025 season, the Cleveland Browns had several position groups with questionable depth, and many of those concerns became glaringly obvious in their Week 1 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Let’s break down which areas are most worrisome as the season moves forward.
Besides kicker…
The lack of depth at wide receiver was a major storyline in the offseason, and unfortunately, those fears came to life on Sunday. Drops and a general lack of playmaking plagued the group throughout
the game. Jerry Jeudy led the team with 66 yards, followed by Cedric Tillman with 52, giving the offense two fairly underwhelming performances. If the Browns hope to compete with tougher defenses, starting with the Baltimore Ravens this coming week, they’ll need much more consistent production from this unit.
Veteran tackle Jack Conklin suffered an eye injury Sunday and missed most of the game. He is expected to return for the game against Baltimore, but his durability has been a concern for the last few seasons. In addition, Dawand Jones looked good early then struggled against the Bengals’ pass rush. With Baltimore’s talented defensive front, there are concerns about whether Jones will be able to step up to the challenge.
