The wording of Fandango’s post promoting WWE Clash In Italy has given me a fit of the giggles.
The entertainment company that will present Clash live at select theaters in the U.S. wrote on Wednesday:
“Brock Lesnar returns at long last for #WWEClashInItaly.”
That’s right, kids. The former WWE and UFC Champion is
returning to the ring after more than 30 days in exile. While his last match at WrestleMania 42 was over five weeks ago, the world as we knew it has changed a lot since then.
Costco added chicken fingers to its food court at a Chicago store. Nationally, gas prices jumped from an average of $4.03 per gallon to $4.56 per gallon. And John Cena, once a hero to children, is now trying to poison kids with carbs after Nature’s Own named him their official “Breaducator.”
When we last saw “The Beast” in what feels like a lifetime ago, he had his ass handed to him by Oba Femi on WWE’s “Grandest Stage of Them All.” Afterward, a tearful Lesnar removed his gloves and boots and waved goodbye to fans as he hugged his longtime advocate, Paul Heyman.
Speculation was rampant that Lesnar had retired, especially after Heyman allegedly filed retirement papers on his behalf.
Then, on the May 18 episode of Raw, he blindsided his WrestleMania conqueror, battering Oba with several F-5s. Despite signing a contract for a rematch at Clash, Heyman and Lesnar insist that he’s retired. That might suggest that this is just a one-off for the combat sports icon, who’s looking to go out a winner this time.
Yeah, I don’t think it’s gonna happen that way, but regardless of the outcome, how Fandango frames Lesnar’s “comeback” makes it seem like it’s the Second Coming.
In that case, get your tickets now to see Clash In Italy this Sunday at select movie theaters, live at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m PT.
