Every year during our annual Report Card series here at Pinstripe Alley, we’re generally pretty thorough with who we grade. Obviously, we do full reports on the Aaron Judges and Max Frieds of the roster,
but we all will take in depth looks at the likes of J.C Escarra and Ryan Yarbrough.
However, there are some players who just didn’t play for quite enough to merit 500+ word posts on. Today, we’re going to round up some of those names by issuing a grade for the collection of position players who made up the back end of the 2025 Yankees’ roster, in alphabetical order.
Misc. Position Players Collective Grade: D
Oswald Peraza
Stats: 71 games, 170 plate appearances, .152/.212/.241, 27 wRC+, -0.6 fWAR
With the Yankees not really doing anything at third base last winter, Oswald Peraza was one of the several options the Yankees went into last season seeing if they could stick. With the glove, Peraza has never been in question (despite the occasional hiccup at third), but he’s never been able to hit consistently at the MLB level, which led to his departure from the Yankees last season.
Peraza struggled at the plate in 2025, and when the Yankees made their plethora of moves at the Trade Deadline, he ended up being part of that. He was sent to the Angels mostly so the team could open up spots for their new acquisitions. He hit better with the Angels than he did with the Yankees in 2025, but still not remotely at a MLB level.
Pablo Reyes
Stats: 24 games, 34 plate appearances, .194/.242/.226, 33 wRC+, -0.4 fWAR
The journeyman utility infielder made the journey north with the team after spring training, with the Yankees needing some extra infield options. Reyes never made much of an impression and was mostly used as a utility bench option. When the Yankees eventually opted to DFA him to make more space on the roster, he elected free agency, but didn’t appear further in the majors in 2025. He signed a minor-league deal with the Padres for 2026.
Austin Slater
Stats: 14 games, 25 plate appearances, .120/.120/.120, -41 wRC+, -0.3 fWAR
Slater was a Trade Deadline-ish pickup for the Yankees, with the idea being that Slater could be a platoon option, as he’s hit lefties decently well over his career. If he still can, we never really got a chance to see it. After just a couple hitless games, Slater got hurt and was then out over a month. He then didn’t do much in his handful of appearances after returning, and was left off the playoff roster. He’s now a free agent.
Jorbit Vivas
Stats: 29 games, 66 plate appearances, .161/.266/.250, 52 wRC+, -0.2 fWAR
The Yankees initially added Vivas along with reliever Victor González in a 2023 trade with the Dodgers. Despite briefly being on the big-league roster in 2024, It took him until this year to make his MLB debut, with the Yankees still failing to find an infield alignment that truly worked, especially at third base.
Vivas didn’t really do much to fix those issues. He hit a bit better than the likes of Peraza and Reyes, but not remotely enough for the Yankees to truly be set at third base or anywhere else. He’s still in the system and only will still only be 25 at the start of next season, but nothing we say makes us think that he’ll be able to lock down a roster spot.
