Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Teddye Buchanan is believed to have suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Buchanan went down in the first quarter and had to be carted back to the locker room. Shortly after, Giana Han of The Baltimore Banner reported the initial suspicion of an ACL tear pending an MRI. In his postgame presser, head coach John Harbaugh said that it didn’t look good for Buchanan, and this morning, ESPN’s Adam Schefter echoed Han’s report. Harbaugh will speak
to the media at 2:30 p.m. ET and may have an update then.
Buchanan, 23, has started 13 of the Ravens’ 14 games this year and is the second-leading tackler on the defense. The fourth-round pick pushed Trenton Simpson for the starting job next to Roquan Smith all summer and took over in Week 2 after a solid NFL debut.
Like most rookie linebackers, Buchanan had plenty of early bumps as he adjusted to the NFL, but he has grown into a solid run defender and demonstrated improvements in coverage. Buchanan also wore the green dot during Smith’s two-week absence in October, which showed the coaching staff’s early confidence in his abilities.
This story will be updated with more information.
