It’s only Week 5, but the Commanders are encroaching on must-win territory. Yeah, that sounds a bit extreme for October, but Washington simply can’t afford to fall to 1-4 on the season and 0-3 within the NFC East so early.
There are fair complaints to be made about the early-season schedule and a buzzard’s luck when it comes to injuries, but this is the hand Washington was dealt.
While the injury report is a million miles long and features some star power, franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels is expected
back for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, sporting a brace to protect his left elbow following a Week 2 dislocation that kept him out the last two games.
That’s a real plus, especially after Athan Kaliakmanis was forced into action versus Indianapolis following Marcus Mariota’s sprained MCL.
They’ll need a big performance from Daniels and a few others to best the resurgent Giants, who have started this season with a 3-1 record. The Commanders won their last (and only) contest at Northwest Stadium.
Can they do it again? The answers to these five questions will be key in deciding the outcome. As we do each week, I’ll ask the questions and you all provide the answers in the comments section below. Then we’ll post the best responses in the article itself on Friday morning. Let us know what you think:
Question 1: Do you think Jayden Daniels will be impacted by the elbow brace? If so, how will it affect him? If not, why not?
Question 2: Who needs to step up in the passing game if WRs Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs can’t go?
Question 3: Who scares you on the Giants defense? Which guy simply must get shut down for the offense to have a productive day?
Question 4: Who should be taking most of the Commanders carries on Sunday and how many should he get?
Question 5: Asked this one last week but I like it, so here it goes again. Who will be the Commanders unsung hero if they win? Which guys needs to step up on a big way on Sunday?
