Throughout the season, Kentucky Basketball was primed for a higher seed in the Southeastern Conference Tournament. However, after stumbling down the stretch of the regular season, they wound up having to play on Wednesday with real pressure on their team to win a couple of games to at least make it to the Friday slate.
Head coach Mark Pope and his team have done just that, defeating LSU on Wednesday in a back-and-forth affair and most recently finishing off Missouri yesterday in what took a collective
effort at both ends of the court to close out the win.
Now, Kentucky will face the top seed in the tournament: The Florida Gators. And while they are 0-2 against the red-hot Gators so far this season, Kentucky had moments where they were able to hang with Florida in their two losses this season. Kentucky also wasn’t at full strength for either game, but has been able to get Kam Williams back in the lineup this week, which has made a noticeable difference.
With the point spread set at 11.5 in favor of the Gators, all signs point to a victory in a third consecutive game over three days against a fully rested, top-seeded team being highly unlikely. Although, crazier things have happened, and Kentucky has built up quite a bit of momentum over the last couple of days.
Tip-off is scheduled for 1 PM ET/Noon CT with coverage on ESPN and the UK Radio Sports Network.
