Nearly one month after taking his official visit to BYU, 5-Star guard Austin Goosby will be back in Utah to attend the BYU-North Carolina exhibition in Salt Lake City, sources familiar with the situation
tell me.
Austin took an official visit to BYU September 26-28, which was his final official visit. He also took officials to SMU, Miami, Duke, Texas, and Baylor. BYU getting Austin to come to the exhibition game is notable. Austin also took an unofficial visit to Provo in March to attend the BYU-Utah hoops game and attend practice, so this will be third time he comes to Utah to see the program. BYU is considered among the favorites for the LDS 5-Star guard, who 247 Sports rates as the #19 player in the 2026 class. Austin is nearing a decision, and a chance for him to see this current program and team in person could be a tailwind for BYU before he decides.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Austin chose any of the schools he visited (SMU I would be a little surprised), but BYU has a lot of momentum the past month since the official visit. Texas has always been among the top schools due to the family ties and Baylor seems to have made strides the last couple months, but I would put BYU’s chances right around the top.
Austin would be BYU’s fourth commitment of the 2026 class and first 5-star commitment.
