Some places do power rankings. Here at Cageside, we do a stock report.
In this weekly series, we identify three Superstars (or groups of Superstars) who are on their way up, and three that are moving in the opposite direction. After a busy week that included several NXT call-ups, major roster cuts, and Danhausen extending his undefeated streak, a lot of fortunes were changed.
With that in mind, let’s see whose stock decreased the most this week:
Stock Down #3: Asuka & IYO SKY
WWE released a long list of wrestlers on Friday night,
and the most shocking one of them all was Kairi Sane. She was the key figure in the ongoing storyline between Asuka and IYO SKY. So not only was their story not good enough to make the cut for WrestleMania 42, now it’s been completely undermined before we ever got the long-awaited singles match between Asuka and IYO.
Stock Down #2: Giulia
Giulia dropped the women’s United states championship to Tiffany Stratton on SmackDown in a title match that wasn’t even officially announced until the day of the show. Giulia’s second reign with the belt was somehow even more disappointing than her first one. She only had one successful title defense this time across 100+ days as champion, and was once again never seen as important enough to get booked in a title match on PLE or Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Stock Down #1: MFT
After winning their feud against the now-released Wyatt Sicks, the MFTs quickly turned into punching bags on this week’s episode of SmackDown. Damian Priest and R-Truth retained the WWE tag team championship with a win over JC Mateo and Tama Tonga, and then Solo Sikoa did the job for Jacob Fatu in the main event. The worst moment for the group came after Fatu’s win, where the Samoan Werewolf easily wiped out MFT all by himself, with The Usos watching on from the ring apron. Solo’s group came off like jabroni fodder when all was said and done. Royce Keys should probably decline their offer to join up ASAP, unless he likes being surrounded by the stench of losers.
Now let’s see whose stock increased the most this week.
Stock Up #3: Street Profits
Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins made their surprise return on Raw, where they picked a fight with The Vision. After being gone from WWE programming since October, the Street Profits are now in prime position to take the World Tag Team Championship away from Austin Theory and a YouTube douchebag.
Stock Up #2: Jacy Jayne & Fatal Influence
Jacy Jayne had the best showing out of any of this week’s NXT call-ups when Fatal Influence appeared on SmackDown to beat the hell out of Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Paige & Brie Bella. Jayne later had massive heat with the audience when she interrupted WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley, before the group left her laying too. It was a similar level of heel heat like that little shithead Dominik Mysterio draws whenever his stupid face appears on camera. I can’t think of any other woman in WWE who has been booed this loudly in recent memory, which is the best case scenario for Fatal Influence’s debut on the main roster.
Stock Up #1: The Bloodline & Jacob Fatu
Roman Reigns’ first act of business as the new (full-time?) World Heavyweight Champion was to bring out The Usos to reunite The Bloodline on Raw. Jacob Fatu then came out to challenge Roman to a title match, which will probably go down at Backlash. If the last time WWE ran The Bloodline angle is any indication, all of these guys are going to dominate WWE programming for as long as Roman’s title reign lasts.
There you have it, Cagesiders. Whose stock do you think changed the most this week?
