The Philadelphia Eagles are signing free agent linebacker Brandon George
, according to a report from NFL insider Jeremy Fowler.George, 25, is a local area guy, having grown up in Reading, Pennsylvania before playing college football at Pitt. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted rookie free agent following the 2025 NFL Draft.
Based on the Chiefs’ pre-draft interest in George, there seemed to be some thought he might make their roster. He instead
spent the entire 2025 season on injured reserve.
George was then waived by the Chiefs earlier this year in May to make room for their 2026 UDFA signings.
Now in Philly, George will be fighting an uphill battle to make the roster; the Eagles already have a lot of talent and depth at off-ball linebacker (though it’s worth noting Chance Campbell has recently been limited in practice due to a groin injury). He can strengthen his case to stick around by really standing out on special teams.
At the very least, George will help to fill practice and preseason reps.
As of this writing, the Eagles have yet to announce a corresponding move to make room for George on their roster. Stay tuned for updates.

Inside linebacker who boasts a burly frame and outstanding pro-day testing numbers. George was a mainstay on special teams during his six-year career, spending only one season (2024) as a full-time starter. He’s inconsistent in making reads and fitting up the run properly, but he’s big and strong. He can leverage his gaps when he’s in position. He’s a build-up runner who lacks the necessary burst to patrol from sideline to sideline, and he’s a liability in coverage. George’s testing, measurables and special-teams experience might appeal to teams, but likely as an undrafted free agent.
