Bayern Munich has a history of struggling with Bayer Leverkusen. Well, not really, but there was a moment there where the club posed a real threat to their title race, and actually acted on it. Since then, Leverkusen has gone on a steady downfall, eventually leading to their appointing of Erik Ten Hag, hoping for a fresh start. That wasn’t exactly the case.
Having won their first game after the sacking of Ten Hag, in a 3-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, it seems that Leverkusen is regaining their confidence.
Alejandro Grimaldo, who scored a brace for his club in that win, is confident too.
“We have a very good team that can be in the top four and can also fight against Bayern,” said Grimaldo in an interview with Bild, captured by @iMiaSanMia. Fighting for a spot in the top four is a stretch in itself, considering the club is currently positioned tenth in the Bundesliga, but there’s plenty of time for fans to see it being manifested. Beating Bayern, on the other hand, is a different question altogether.
What do you think? Does Leverkusen have the capacity to topple Bayern from their throne again? Let us know in the comments!
Bayern Munich is entering a rugged part of its schedule and the bizz surrounding the team should spike in the coming days. Let’s talk about where everything stands after a great weekend in the Bundesliga and ahead of key match against Chelsea in the Champions League:
- It was a good weekend for Bayern Munich as the Bavarians dominated Hamburger SV. What good can we take out of that ahead of a very important showdown against Chelsea in the Champions League.
- Thomas Müller dropped a hat trick on the Philadelphia Union…on his birthday. Let’s discuss…
- Should fans be concerned about all of the noise surrounding Michael Olise? With Liverpool and Manchester City (plus maybe Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona, too) all reportedly interested, things look a little dicey.
