The Jets have two quarterbacks on their roster, Geno Smith and Cade Klunbik. At the moment the number three quarterback is practice squader Bailey Zappe.
The team is evidently still considering options, however. Two quarterbacks came to the team facility to work out, including one with a moderately big name.
Levis was a a second round pick by the Titans in 2023. His time in Tennessee
went poorly. Things hit a low point in 2024 when the Titans went 2-10 in his 12 starts, and Levis threw an interception on 4 percent of his passes. Levis didn’t play in 2025 and was waived by the Titans on cutdown day.
I know people generally say that youngish quarterbacks who were highly drafted have “upside.” It seems fair to question how much upside Levis really has given how poorly his Titans tenure went and the fact none of the 32 teams are currently willing to offer him a roster spot. As Rosenblatt notes, Levis would only be considered for a Jets practice squad spot.
Plummer meanwhile has toiled in the minor leagues. He was recently named most valuable player of the United Football League playing for the Orlando Storm. He spent the 2024 season on the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers.
