Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is stepping into a whole new kind of fight.
The promotion for the upcoming Street Fighter reboot just dropped its first official poster today (Thurs., Sept. 4, 2025), and to the surprise of combat sports fans, Volkanovski had his face on the poster. The Aussie great is officially confirmed to play Joe, a deep-cut character from the franchise’s roots, standing alongside heavy hitters like Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, and Guile
in the “player select” style layout.
The film is set for a wide release on Oct. 16, 2026.
Check out the poster below:

Volkanovski isn’t the only familiar face on the stacked lineup. WWE wrestlers Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes are also in the film, as well as 50 Cent.

For Volkanovski, this marks his biggest pop culture crossover yet. The former pound-for-pound king is still considered one of the greatest fighters in UFC history, and his move into a globally recognized gaming franchise speaks volumes about his mainstream appeal.
The poster reveal is already making waves across social media, not just because of the star-studded cast, but because it’s giving fans a first glimpse of how the Street Fighter universe will look in live-action form.
Whether Volkanovski will be throwing spinning kicks or just soaking up screen time remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: “The Great” has officially made the jump from the Octagon to the big screen.
