After getting Monday off, all of the team’s affiliates were back in action on Tuesday. Well, most of the affiliates played. Who impressed?
Rochester 8, Lehigh Valley 7
Welcome back to Triple-A, Keaton Anthony. The formerly rehabbing first baseman returned to Lehigh Valley last night to add two hits in five at bats, including an RBI double, to combine for an IronPigs offense that totaled ten hits on the evening. However, the pitching Michael Mercado, Max Lazar and Kirby Snead in the late innings made
sure that the Red Wings were able to climb back into, and eventually win, the first game of the series. Of note, Bryan de la Cruz had three hits, including a home run, and four RBI on the night. His progress is something to monitor.
Reading 3, Binghamton 0
Braydon Tucker was the main character on the night, tossing seven shutout innings, allowing only two hits and one walk, striking out three to pace the Fightin’ Phils in their win over Binghamton. Bryan Rincon continued his good season, going two for four with a double, leading an offense that, outside of Rincon, only managed to get four hits on the night. Alex McFarlane continued to dominate, shutting the door in the ninth for yet another save, his fifth of the season, and furthered the case for his to promotion.
Brooklyn 2, Jersey Shore 1
Speaking of weak offense, the BlueClaws managed only five hits on the night, a Devin Saltiban RBI single the lone run scoring hit of the night as they lost their series opener. On the mound, Reese Dutton was solid, completing six innings and allowing only two runs on four hits while striking out seven, yet it wasn’t enough as the Jersey Shore offense decided that this would be the night to take a little break from their duties.
Clearwater/St. Lucie
These teams were rained out. They’ll play a doubleheader tonight.
