Manchester City fall in Birmingham, Aston Villa beat them in a truly tricky game for Pep’s blues. The ball just refused to go in and despite out shooting Villa by 9, they could not get a goal. Two players who played well and created what they could were Foden & Nunes who were good. On the other coin, Dias, Bernardo and Reijnders left some to be desired out there.
On to the reaction-
Pep Guardiola Reaction
“We played a really good team and a good game. We played aggressively.
“In the first half, when
they link behind our strikers, they were able to be one v one, two v two. We were not good defensively and they were able to run.
“They took control and then the second half we adjusted better, controlling the middle better because they played a lot there.
“In general, we were there. The shots, crosses, blocks. They defended really well and the goalkeeper was fantastic.
“In general I don’t have many complaints. Little details but good.”
“I was worried before the international break when [Arsenal] were six, seven points in front.
“Our job is not to watch the table – if they win all their games they will win the Premier League and congratulations but I have the feeling our team is alive.
“The courage to play is better. I don’t live in October thinking what is going to happen if we don’t win the Premier League games.
“It’s game-by-game, now we prepare for Swansea. After the international break, there are no more until March and we will see where we are.”
