Former UFC 170-pound title challenger Ian Machado Garry challenged No. 3-ranked
welterweight contender Michael Morales to a main event showdown on Nov. 28 in Saudi Arabia.Morales said yes.
But what happens in the headlines versus what gets done behind the scenes may be entirely different matters. That’s according to a recent social media rant from “The Future,” who claims Morales is already making excuses ahead of their proposed Saudi Arabia showdown.
“I’ve said YES. The date is locked in. Main event
and you’re making excuses already,” Garry wrote on Instagram. “UFC sent the date. I DM’d you myself. You make it all public but behind the scenes I’m getting a different message. The world knows I’m [willing to fight] anyone anytime… How long has it been since he’s fought?”
Maybe Nov. 28 interferes with those big wedding plans he made over the weekend.
While Garry is kicking and screaming about the contract Morales hasn’t signed, the Ecuadorian is on Instagram calling for a welterweight title eliminator against No. 1-ranked Carlos Prates. The winner would likely move on to challenge champion Islam Makhachev at some point in early 2027.
It’s been nearly a year since Morales last competed, a first-round finish over Sean Brady.
