Newcastle United will need to reshape its midfield after Sandro Tonali’s move to Tottenham, with Johan Manzambi now out of the picture after yet another transfer whiff, but another Bundesliga now emerging.
According to Sport BILD, Newcastle has added Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller to its shortlist as Eddie Howe looks for a proven option to bring in alongside a few other younger targets.
Per the German outlet, Newcastle have added Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller to their shortlist of potential incoming
transfers, with the German midfielder considered an option to strengthen that positional strata after Sandro Tonali’s exit.
Kicker, via BuliNews, has also reported that Newcastle has held talks over Stiller, while Manchester United has previously been linked with the 25-year-old.
Per BuliNews, Stiller is under contract through July 1, 2028, but there is a release clause reportedly worth €36.5 million included in his current deal that might facilitate a transfer.
Newcastle’s interest comes after Tonali left for Tottenham in a deal worth €108 million, as well as Anthony Gordon’s sale worth €80 million.
Stiller could be an immediate Tonali replacement in midfield after developing into one of the Bundesliga’s most reliable midfielders over the past two seasons and landing in Germany’s World Cup squad this summer.
