After a strong regular season and ACC tournament, the Miami Hurricanes are in prime position for a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Under first-year coach Jai Lucas, the Canes have undergone a stunning turnaround from last season. 13-5 in the ACC regular season and a win
in the ACC tourney to reach the semifinals, the Canes stand at 25-8 heading into Selection Sunday.
Led by 1st team All-ACC forward Malik Reneau, 2nd team All-ACC guard Tre Donaldson, and All-Defensive standout Ernest Udoh Jr., the Canes are a physical squad who can present challenges for any opponent. And with their talent, the Canes have strong odds heading into the Tournament, which you can check out here from our friends at FanDuel.
What seed will Miami get? Who will their opponent and path forward be? We’ll find all of that out tomorrow during Selection Sunday. Here’s how to watch:
Selection Sunday: March 15th
Time: 6:00pm Eastern
TV: CBS and Paramount+
Live stream: March Madness live
As we’ve written here at SOTU, Miami has been circling a 7 seed over the last 2 weeks. There’s a chance, however, after the blowout loss to Virginia in the ACC tournament Semifinals that the Canes could slide down to the 8 seed line in the end.
The difference between the 7 seed and 8 seed really comes down to this: with a win, the 7 seed would face the 2 seed in the 2nd round, while the 8 seed would face the 1 seed. Small difference, but that’s basically it. The National Champions have to win 6 games in a row in the tournament, so you’re going to have to play good teams to win. That’s fine. Line it up.
You’ve watched and supported the Canes all season, now enjoy Selection Sunday and see where the journey will continue next week!
