Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Iowa fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
We’re officially inside of three months from the return of Iowa football inside Kinnick Stadium, and while three months might seem like a long time and the doldrums of summer are real, that glorious sight of the Hawkeyes coming out of the tunnel to Back in Black will be here before
we know it.
Over those next three months, we’ll be previewing position groups, highlighting newcomers, diving in on opponents and much more. But as we do that, we want to know what the fanbase is expecting from the Hawkeyes this season. Yes it’s early and yes a lot can happen, but we’re not even going to pin you down just yet. We just want to know, ballpark, where the group thinks this season is headed.
The folks in the desert set the over/under at 7.5 total wins for Iowa this year. That’s the same number they set a year ago when the Hawkeyes ultimately finished the year at 9-4 overall. In fact, Iowa has topped 7.5 total wins in every year where they played a full season for the last decade.
So we’re going to set the bar a little higher for our savvy Hawkeye fans with our internal over/under set at 8.5 total wins. That’s a mark the Hawkeyes are hitting 60% of the time over that same timeframe.
So, will this be a year where Iowa continues their streak over 7.5 and adds to that percentage above 8.5? Will it be one where they slot into the middle? Or maybe this is the year they end the streak and finish under 7.5 total wins. Let us know your thoughts in this week’s Reacts poll. Feel free to drop your full season win total predictions in the comments, but note that we’ll be circling back toward the end of the summer to ask for our annual game-by-game predictions so we can compare to the staff and hold you all to account each week of the regular season.
