Yesterday, Paul “Triple H” Levesque stirred up talk of a Booker T retirement match in WWE by posting the following video on social media, along with the words “Whenever you’re ready.”
Booker T responded to Triple H’s tease on the latest episode of his Hall of Fame podcast. He first went with a non-committal never-say-never approach.
“Never say never, bro. I’m not gonna put myself totally in the retirement category just yet. I don’t know. I might
get the itch to want to have a retirement match, and go out there and do something with one of the young guys, perhaps do something with Trick Williams. You never know. So I don’t want to take that off the table, or anything like that. [Anything is possible.]”
When Booker T’s co-host pressed him on a specific scenario of doing a retirement match against Trick Williams next year at WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia, Booker changed his tune to “I’m in 100.”
“Yeah, I would think about it, without any shadow of a doubt. I would think about it. It would be something that perhaps could be tempting…to have a chance to do something like that would be a cool way to walk out. A hell of a payday at the same time. Doing something with somebody that I really, really love what they’re doing as far as what Trick Williams is doing right now.
Heck yeah, man…of course I would do it. But I would definitely have to get myself ready for something like that. It would have to be next year at ‘Mania. Yeah, I could do that.
Put me in coach. I’m in. I’m in 100.”
If Triple H is serious about giving Booker T a WWE retirement match whenever he’s ready, it sounds like the right creative pitch will do the trick, so to speak. But I wonder what Booker T’s response would be if Triple H instead wants his career to be killed by GUNTHER?
Do Triple H and Booker T now have you thinking that his WWE retirement match has a real chance to happen in the next year or two? Let me know in the comments below who you want to see Booker face if he has one last match in WWE, Cagesiders.
