Kiefer Crosbie, as expected, is not thrilled with referee Marc Goddard.
Crosbie was knocked out by Taiyilake Nueraji in the first round of their main card welterweight matchup at UFC Shanghai this past Saturday, but it’s mired with controversy. Nueraji blasted Crosbie with an illegal knee that caused a stop to the action. Goddard took two points away from Nueraji, but Crosbie said he was good to continue after a doctor cleared him, although he was clearly still not all there. Moments later, Nueraji finished
fight.
Following the loss, Crosbie reacted to the questionable moment, calling Goddard out specifically for how the situation was handled.
“Yeah take away a point and I’ll carry on. [Sounds good],” Crosbie wrote. “‘My job is to keep you safe at all times.’
“How come I didn’t get five minutes [to recover Marc Goddard]? 45 seconds I got and couldn’t even see straight or remember what happened. Obviously I was going to continue because that’s what fighters do but to rush me back in whilst still concussed and confused is f*cking ridiculous. Playing with my life. Ridiculous call.”
The loss drops Crosbie to 0-3 in the UFC, suffering first-round stoppage losses in all three of his octagon appearances.
