If there’s anything one needs to know about Tyson Fury, it’s that he just might like unretiring from the sport of boxing as much as he likes walking away from it, with recent signs pointing towards another
eventual return which is anticipated to happen in the coming year.
While Fury has had his name mentioned alongside Anthony Joshua for a long overdue showdown, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren says that while Fury hasn’t committed to a return, if he did come back that he wouldn’t be waiting around for Anthony Joshua to get a tune up fight in before they meet.
“There’s a lot of talk about Joshua, there’s a lot of talk about Joshua having a tune-up up so there’s no way he’s going to sit around waiting,” Warren said. “The fight he really wants is another go with Mr. Usyk, he really wants that. And they were great fights, really close fights, to watch. I’d watch that again. That’s the fight he wants. That’s the one he talks about all the time.”
Fury, of course, has come up short in two previous fights with Usyk, with Fury feeling he was hard done by on the official scorecards. That’s obviously something Fury obviously wouldn’t want to live with if he could get a chance to change things around, but whether or not that will drive him to an actual return and whether or not he could actually manage to secure another fight with Usyk is an entirely different conversation.
