The Seattle Seahawks are banged up at linebacker, which has prompted a reunion with one of their players from the 2024 squad.
On Wednesday, the Seahawks announced the return of Josh Ross, who was signed to the practice squad. Former Northwestern guard Evan Beerntsen was released to make room for Ross, whose ties to Mike Macdonald date back to when they were both at the University of Michigan in 2021 and the Baltimore Ravens in 2022.
Seattle has significant injury issues at linebacker heading into Week
7 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Drake Thomas did not practice on Wednesday, having missed Week 6 against the Denver Broncos with an ankle injury. Chazz Surratt has been out for the past few weeks with a calf injury, while Tyrice Knight was added to the injury report as a limited participant with an oblique issue. Most likely, Ross would be a special teams body (which is what he was in Seattle in 2024) and a potential game day elevation if the injury situation becomes an outright crisis.
Ross was part of Seattle’s preseason roster last year but did not make it beyond preseason, and most recently was part of the Minnesota Vikings preseason squad earlier this season.
