We got through Week 0 relatively unscathed. Everyone, including you rabble rousers putting your collective noggins together, managed to go at least 2-2. Andrew, myself, and the Nerd Herd went 3-1, but no one could get all 4 right. It would have been perfection for the 3-1 trio if not for Stanford losing on a last second field goal as 2.5-point underdogs.
We get back to full swing for Week 1 with all 16 SEC teams in action without there being a single SEC-SEC matchup. Unfortunately, 3 games (Alabama
A&M at Arkansas, Illinois State at Oklahoma, and Long Island at Florida) did not have spreads posted by the time I sent the list out on Monday morning. This is pretty common for SEC-FCS matchups but not always true since Charleston Southern at Vanderbilt and Central Arkansas at Missouri had odds from somebody that gets put into the Oddshark formula. As such, we go from 4 games picked to 14. Much more room for fun and weirdness.
Only 2 games were picked unanimously, and they could not be more different. Everyone expects Central Arkansas to stay within 36.5 points of Missouri, while no one thinks Florida State can be within 13.5 of Alabama. Cole, Andrew, and I each take a turn as the Lone Ranger against the rest of the crew in a game. 5 games are split 4 to 2, so that leaves 4 games split down the middle.
The Rules
- Normally, the picks are for all SEC games with one dealer’s choice where I get to choose another game to make us pick.
- The picks will be made AGAINST THE SPREAD. Too many games are easy to pick heads up. Also, this will serve as a PSA for why you should not get into sports gambling, which is especially important with sports gambling being legal in Tennessee now.
- The lines will be taken from Oddsshark’s consensus spread some time Monday, so they may not match what is listed at the time this article is published. I also have a couple backups since Oddsshark is sometimes slow to the FBS vs FCS matchups. This did not help this week.
