With the offseason underway (for our Atlanta Braves, at least), it’s time to start looking forward to the future — well, as much as you can when you consider what awaits the baseball world once the start of December rolls around. Either way, teams are going to be keeping it business as usual until that date and as such, it’s time to start keeping an eye on what type of moves the Braves could make going forward.
MLB Trade Rumors has completed their annual Projected Arbitration Salaries for the upcoming
offseason and it’s always a useful resource to keep handy once this time of year comes around. This season, the Braves will have six arbitration-eligible players to deal with, with the two most notable names being Bryce Elder and Dylan Lee. For Elder in particular, this’ll be his first arbitration-eligible season so he could be in line for a big jump in pay if this projection proves to be correct. Dylan Lee would also be in line to see the price of his services go up as well.
Here’s the full list and projected salaries (current salaries according to FanGraphs in parentheses), as provided by MLBTR:
- Bryce Elder: $4 million ($810,000)
- Michael Grove: $1 million ($546,524)
- James Karinchak: $1.1 million ($215,249 ($840,000 split contract))
- Dylan Lee: $4.2 million ($2.2 million)
- Joey Wentz: $900,000 ($900,000)
Luke Williams would’ve made this six Braves players, but he was recently designated for assignment as the Braves selected LHP Danny Young’s contract in a corresponding move.
Obviously, Elder will be the big one to keep an eye on here, as we’ll get an idea of where the Braves are at on him based on these negotiations, which can sometimes get a bit contentious if/when it goes to trial. We’ll see what happens, though.
