MLB Trade Rumors: Jacob deGrom has informed the Texas Rangers that he wants to stay in Texas, according to Ken Rosenthal, who says that the club approached deGrom about waiving his full no-trade clause. Rosenthal says that the Rangers are also believed to have approached Corey Seager, who has an eight team no-trade clause, and Nathan Eovaldi, who has a full no-trade, though Rosenthal gives no indication as to their responses.
The Atlanta Braves were among the teams that had reportedly shown interest
in deGrom, though how serious that interest is, and how far along talks may have gone, is unknown. It seemed unlikely heading into today that deGrom, Seager or Eovaldi would be moved, though with the Rangers in listening mode, it would make sense that they would inquire with those veterans as to whether, and for whom, they’d waive their no-trade rights.
So it would appear as of now deGrom isn’t going anywhere today. Of course, not all that long ago, Justin Verlander said he wouldn’t waive his no-trade clause with the Detroit Tigers to go to the Houston Astros…then did so right before the deadline.
