The transfer portal is whirling at the moment as the Kentucky Basketball staff looks to lock in and finish up their roster. At the moment, Donnie Freeman is the most popular name among the BBN.
However, the fanbase will now need to focus on another recruitment that could become quite important depending on how the Freeman recruitment ends up.
According to a report by Jacob Polacheck of KSR, James Madison forward Justin McBride has scheduled a visit to Lexington. He will be in town on Wednesday, April
22.
McBride, a rising senior from Plano (TX), had a breakout season for the Dukes in 2025-26 in which he averaged 15.3 PPG on 49% shooting from the field and 40% from deep. He also added 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
At 6-7 and 240 pounds, McBride could fill a needed role for the Cats heading into next season as either a starting forward or a key bench piece.
Can the Cats close the deal? That will be something to monitor heading into the week.
