Harry Kane’s name is synonymous with scoring records and he broke yet another one with his brace in the recent 4-0 Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen, having become the fastest player ever to reach 100 goals with any one club. It took the England skipper a total of 104 matches to reach the 100-goal mark, which bested Cristiano Ronaldo’s mark of taking 105 matches and likewise Erling Haaland’s. He’s still hungry to break Robert Lewandowski’s single Bundesliga scoring record of 41 goals, which was set
at the very end of the 2020/21 season, and he’s on pace to do so with his 10 league goals so far this season from 5 matches. Across all competitions, he’s already netted 15 times.
Vincent Kompany is spoiled with an attack spearheaded by Kane, but just how long will he remain a Bayern player? As things currently stand, the striker’s contract with the German Rekordmeister runs through June 2027, and it is not yet clear whether or not he will agree to a contract extension, or if he does, exactly how long the extension would be for. You’d be hard pressed to find any top club in Europe that wouldn’t want Kane to join their ranks, but the striker himself has expressed more than once how happy he currently is in Munich playing under Kompany and having just come off of winning his first ever piece of major club silverware.
Speaking on Kane’s contract situation, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl expressed confidence that Kane will eventually agree to a contract extension, knowing that he is enjoying life at the club and in the city of Munich. “Harry is an exceptional player for us, a true leader. He underscored his desire to join Bayern. He also said it’s great to play with us and win titles. We want to continue doing that with him for a long time to come. That’s why we’ll discuss the next steps with him in a relaxed way,” Eberl explained (via @iMiaSanMia).
Much like wit Lewandowski, Bayern would also more than likely provide an exception to their internal rule of only offering one-year contract extensions to players of 30 years of age. Kane is now 32 and will be 34 by the time his current contract would expire at Bayern if there’s no extension, but the club will probably offer at least two years when the time comes to go to the negotiating table and put pen to paper.
