Indiana men’s basketball head coach Darian DeVries addressed the media on Thursday afternoon ahead of Saturday’s matchup against Kentucky at Rupp Arena in Lexington.
Asked about the history between the two programs and how important it is for the Wildcats to be on the Hoosiers’ schedule, DeVries implied that he’d like to keep it that way. The two agreed to terms on a four-game series stretching from 2025-2028 back in 2023.
“I think it’s a great series, I hope we can continue this forever,” DeVries
said. “I think it’s great for both programs, I think it’s great for college basketball.”
He added that he believes both programs and fanbases are excited for the matchup and that he remembers Christian Watford’s game-winning 3-pointer that knocked off the No. 1-ranked Wildcats in Bloomington back in 2011, a game he watched at the time.
As is customary, DeVries has spoken with the broadcast team ahead of Saturday, with Dick Vitale and Charles Barkley set to call the game. He noted Vitale was on the call for that 2011 matchup and the call sticks out in his mind.
