Mississippi State visited Tuscaloosa tonight and ran into a buzzsaw, as Alabama won 100-75.
Alabama won the tip and London Jemison, who drew a start in the absence of Labaron Philon, immediately opened the scoring with a corner three. Alabama would knock down four more in the first four minutes of action, including two from Amari Allen, to take a 15-5 lead into the first TV timeout. In addition to shooting the lights out, Alabama had an outstanding game plan to force the ball out of Josh Hubbard’s
hands.
Alabama kept firing and pushed the lead out to 20 with nine minutes to go in the half, and ended up taking a whopping 63-33 lead into the locker room. Amari Allen was the big story of the half with 18 points on 5-5 three point shooting. Aden Holloway added 14, and Latrell Wrightsell Jr. scored 8 while grabbing 6 rebounds to lead the Tide. Alabama shot a ridiculous 59% from three in the half and had 16 makes. The Tide out-rebounded the Bulldogs 26-15, and Hubbard was held to a mere three points.
The barrage continued after the break, as Mississippi State simply had no answer for Alabama’s litany of three point marksmen. The lead swelled to 39 at one point early in the half, and the Tide ended up winning by 25. Allen led the way with 23, followed by Wrightsell with 18 and Holloway with 16.
This was a fun game for Alabama fans. May it be a sign of things to come in March.
Roll Tide.
