The battle for the Ballon d’Or continues to get hotter. Bayern Munich striker and England captain Harry Kane is one of the favorites to lift the coveted Golden Ball. Executive for sport Max Eberl believes that Kane has shown an exemplary personality off the pitch while breaking records on it.
Sport Bild interviewer asked how highly would Eberl rate Kane’s chances at winning the Ballon d’Or. “I have witnessed first-hand how Harry has performed and conducted himself over the past two years. He has broken
records and is an outstanding personality. For me, there is no other candidate than Harry,” replied Eberl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kane had one of the best seasons of his career with Bayern with 68 goals and assists across 51 games for Bayern. Aside from his unstoppable productivity and scoring in crucial games, he played a key role in the midfield and sometimes even in defense in true total football style. It is season that will be remembered for goals, records and the sheer ability of Harry to contribute from anywhere on the pitch. His tactical mind and vision made the legendary Thomas Müller’s departure from the club easier.
Müller is a footballing brain like no other, his ability to pick spaces, players and opponents is in a league of its own. Without the club legend to be the attacking quarterback, Kane often dropped back to orchestrate the Bayern attacks. His leadership to bridge the gap left by Müller’s absence and selfless contribution in defense have been taken note by the footballing world earning the striker hefty support for his Ballon d’Or candidature.
