Chelsea youngster Dastan Satpayev will spend the upcoming season on loan at Burnley, with the move made official today. The Clarets are back in the Championship after finishing second to bottom in the Premier League last season, and have a new head coach in Nicky Hayen after former Chelsea man Scott Parker left the club towards the end of last season.
Satpayev, who turned 18 just two days ago, has spent all of preseason with Chelsea already thanks to some sort of special dispensation afforded by his
previous club, FC Kairat. His birthday signalled the official completion of his pre-agreed move to Chelsea (as per FIFA rules), where a 7-year contract through 2033 awaited him.
The Kazakhstan international impressed in his limited minutes during preseason, so hopefully he can keep doing so in the Championship as well. Despite his very young age, he has 63 senior professional appearances under his belt already, including a dozen in the Champions League thanks to Kairat reaching the League Phase via four (4!) qualifying rounds two seasons ago.
Burnley’s player announcement videos are always fun, and this one’s no exception. Good luck, Darth Dastan!
