A new nickname has been chosen for everybody’s favorite Buffalo!
Ralphie VII, CU’s one-year-old live mascot, has been officially given her nickname: Brandy.
Per tradition, CU’s Ralphie Handlers give new Ralphie’s their name after their first run at Folsom Field. After two full games and four runs for VII, her team has decided on the name Brandy for CU’s newest celebrity.
The name Brandy has a double meaning. It stays in line with the tradition of naming her after something alcohol related, with previous Ralphie’s being named Moonshine (Ralphie II), Tequila (Ralphie III), Rowdy (Ralphie IV), Blackout (Ralphie V), and Ember (Ralphie VI). In a press release, school officials say that the name Brandy was decided upon based on Ralphie VII’s favorite song, the 1972 classic rock hit “Brandy (You’re a fine girl)” by Looking Glass.
Brandy, you’re a fine girl indeed. We’re looking forward to seeing you at Folsom Field for years to come!
