On Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers ensured that they will hold on to a lead in the NFC North division for at least another week. Their 27-23 win over the Arizona Cardinals moved them to 4-1-1 on the season
and will keep them no worse than the #2 seed in the NFC.
Where Green Bay sits in the seeding picture will be determined by the first of two Monday Night Football games this evening, which feature the conference’s only other one-loss team against the next-best team in the NFC North. That game has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visiting the Detroit Lions in a game that could have massive implications now and later on this season.
If the Buccaneers win, Green Bay stays as the #2 seed but will open up a bigger lead over the Lions in the division, which would probably be the preferable option. A Lions win would push Green Bay into the top spot in the NFC, however, but it would also keep Detroit within one of the Packers in the loss column.
After that game wraps up, another top NFC team will be in action in the late game as the 4-2 Seahawks host the Texans. Can Seattle and Sam Darnold keep their hot start rolling, or will the Texans offense continue a recent hot streak that led them to two straight wins before their bye last week?
Tune in to both of these games to find out what happens. Alternately, pull up FOX, which will be airing game 7 of the American League Championship Series between the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays at 8:10 PM Eastern. If you’re a Seattle sports fan…well, good luck figuring out your plans for tonight!
