The Yankees continue to sit in what feels a bit like baseball purgatory. Their loss yesterday pushed them five back of the Rays, as it looks like they’ll have to resign themselves to another Wild Card Series despite running the second-best record in the American League. They’ve played good baseball but have been unable to make up any ground on Tampa, and now, Aaron Judge is injured again, and it’s unclear how severe his calf injury isand whether he’ll be able to contribute to the team in the playoffs.
There’s little we can do but sit and wait, for the games to become meaningful again, and to see whether New York’s captain will be back or if he’s done for the year.
