In my immediate reaction to the Rays trade deadline, I gave the front office an A-grade thanks to not only their additions at SP, RP, and C/No. 4 hitter but also their restraint in not trading the best prospects just to sure up the underperformance on offense at second base.
Did y’all agree? A little!
The resounding answer here is a B, most likely because second base is still a potential gap. Ben Williamson just went down with a hamstring injury that might keep him out for two months, so it’s now a platoon
of Richie Palacios and Cason Williams at second base on offense?
Will that be enough? Well, it’s no. 8 position in the lineup, and the offensive thump required is spelled by the surprise addition of Liam Hicks. I think the Rays are fine, but we might be splitting hairs.

Go Rays!
