Ansu Fati is expected to complete a permanent €11 million transfer from Barcelona to Monaco
shortly but the move has been held up because the deal has not been finalised just yet.According to Mundo Deportivo, the delay is because Barcelona want to insert a buy-back clause into the transfer “because they consider him a valuable asset.”
Fati came through the Barca academy and burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old. However, a series of injuries took their toll and saw him loaned out to Monaco last season.
The forward managed to score 12 times in all competition, leading Monaco to trigger a buy option in his contract.
It’s previously been reported that Barcelona want to include a sell-on clause but MD report that the club is still working out exactly what is the best option and could try for a buy-back option instead.
Barca want to avoid a situation where Fati is sold for a low fee, goes on to impress at Monaco and then is sold on at a huge price in the future.
The report also suggests that Barca may be taking their time and waiting “for a much higher offer” for the Spain star. Monaco have until the end of June to take up the buy option in Fati’s loan deal.
