Bayern Munich got the ball rolling for the 2026/27 Bundesliga season, starting off with a 5-1 dismantling of VfB Stuttgart in a game where either side had a good chance of winning. Vincent Kompany spoke to interviewers after the game and said that the Bavarians deserved to win and acknowledged Stuttgart’s threat.
“The start of the game was very difficult,” Kompany said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “We know that Stuttgart are a physically strong team and have good attackers. We stayed calm,
kept going and created more and more chances. In the end it was a deserved win.”
Stuttgart were no pushovers and gave Bayern plenty of problems in what was otherwise a routine win for the Bavarians.
Bayern had five different goal scorers today: Dayot Upamecano, Michael Olise, an own goal from Josha Vagnoman, Luis Díaz, and Aleksandar Pavlović all got on the scoresheet as Bayern romped to victory on a rare night where Harry Kane drew a blank.
