The Portland Trail Blazers will start a bright new season in about six weeks. Hopes abound at the start of each new campaign as the team goes fishing for glory and higher place in NBA echelons.
Part of the reality of fishing, however, is knowing when to cut bait. Sometimes the output isn’t worth the time invested. It’s time to go home, have a sandwich, and vow to catch the big one next time.
That brings us to this discussion question. Blazers fans are notoriously loyal, sometimes to the point of being
unreasonable. (Perish the thought!) When did you go against type, though? Which Trail Blazers have you given up on over the course of your fandom? No judgment on you or them. It’s a subjective matter. We just want to know the times you threw up your hands and got off the train that others were still riding. Also tell us whether you ended up being right or whether you had to race down the tracks to board the caboose again!
Personally, I gave up on Sebastian Telfair pretty early. I also jumped ship on Shawn Kemp before he ever joined the team. I hung onto a couple of guards of the era far too long (we’ll talk about that in another post) but I remember getting off the Jerryd Bayless ride quickly. How about you?
