The Philadelphia Eagles hosted running back Ja’Quinden Jackson on a free agent visit at the Jefferson Health Training Complex, according to today’s official NFL personnel notice.
The Eagles signed Jackson to their 90-man roster on August 10 when the team was dealing with multiple running back injuries in training camp.
You may recall the scary moment where Jackson was taken off the field in an ambulance after he got injured on the opening kickoff of the Eagles’ preseason game against the New England
Patriots.
Thankfully, Jackson turned out to be OK. The Eagles waived him with an injury designation on August 24.
The Eagles are currently dealing with multiple running back injuries:
- Saquon Barkley suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4 and missed the Eagles’ Week 5 game. There seems to be hope that he can return in Week 6 but that much has yet to be confirmed.
- Tank Bigsby was placed on injured reserve last week. As a result, he’ll miss at least three more games.
- Will Shipley suffered a foot injury in Week 5 that will likely cause him to miss multiple games.
And so the Eagles currently have two healthy running backs on the roster, both of whom were called up from the practice squad last week: Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele.
The team also has former Dallas Cowboys draft pick Jaydon Blue on the practice squad. And now it seems like Jackson might join Blue there to help give the Eagles more backfield depth while the team navigates injuries.
