Dana White and Tyson Fury could be working together soon, but for now they’re keeping their cards close to the vest.
Fury made a surprise appearance at Sunday’s UFC White House event, making a grand entrance from the Oval Office down to the octagon on the South Lawn for a brief chat with cageside commentator Jon Anik. The heavyweight boxing star teased that he could have fight news, but declined to go into specifics, instead deferring to UFC CEO Dana White.
“I think I’m going to let Dana do the speaking,”
Fury said. “I’ll let him do his announcement… It’s a massive, massive announcement.”
White was asked about the announcement at evening’s post-fight press conference, but unfortunately for fans hoping for further updates on Fury’s long-awaited fight with fellow British star Anthony Joshua, White was just as withholding, though he did take a shot at fellow promoter Eddie Hearn. In recent interviews, Hearn has been dismissive of White’s claims that he is involved in any way, shape, or form with the Fury-Joshua fight.
Fury’s appearance at UFC White House could say otherwise.
“For the last couple of weeks I’ve been hearing from the media and other people that I’m not involved in the fight,” White said. “I’ve been hearing that Tyson Fury couldn’t get out of the country and couldn’t get into the United States and it just seems like everybody’s always wrong.”
White was referring to reports that Fury has been unable to travel to the United States due to his past ties with alleged Irish crime boss Daniel Kinahan. If those reports were true, it’s unclear how Fury ended up in the U.S. this week.
Fury is expected to face Joshua in late 2026, though not before booking a tune-up fight, one that could take place under White’s Zuffa Boxing banner.
“Very, very, very excited for this fight,” Fury told Anik, referring to Joshua. “It’s been over a decade in the making. For whatever reason it hasn’t happened before. Let’s hope it happens right now, very soon. … Potential fight in August and maybe at the end of the year it happens.”
Asked specifically if he could end up working with White, Fury did not confirm though he indicated it’s probable.
“One hundred percent potential, for sure,” Fury said.
