This evening, the Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners were announced for the 70th time in Major League Baseball history. After missing out on any Gold Glove Award winners a year ago, the Brewers entered tonight with two nominees: second baseman Brice Turang and left fielder Jackson Chourio.
It’s quite fitting that the man who fielded the final out of the Brewers’ first-ever World Series Championship also earned his second career Gold Glove. As spectacular as Turang was in the postseason, not allowing
anything by him, it’s important to note that those plays aren’t factored into the voting. Turang, who won a Gold Glove and Platinum Glove in 2024, led MLB second basemen with 23 defensive runs saved this season, playing a large role in his award.
Turang beat out a pair of his National League Central rivals in JJ Wetherholt of the St. Louis Cardinals and Brandon Lowe of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Wetherholt, who was a rookie in 2026, led MLB in fielding run value while subsequently leading the Outs Above Average (OAA) category by six over Turang. Lowe was slightly below both Turang and Wetherholt in many of the same categories.
For the first time in franchise history, the Brewers will have a left field Gold Glove winner, as Chourio locked in his first of his career. Chourio’s NL-leading Fielding Run Value helped him beat out Daylen Lile of the Washington Nationals and Ian Happ of the Cubs. Lile was fourth among left fielders with eight Defensive Runs Saved in just his second season in the big leagues, while Happ led all of the NL with nine outfield assists.
Over the first few seasons of his career, Chourio bounced around every position in the outfield. First, before Brewers management decided to keep Christian Yelich as the full-time designated hitter, Chourio found himself splitting time between right field and center field. This past season, the Brewers had Garrett Mitchell for a full 162-game season, allowing Chourio to settle into his role in left field, playing 123 of his 137 games there.
This is just the third time in franchise history that the Brewers have had two players win the Gold Glove in the same year, and the first time since 2024 that Turang and Sal Frelick both won. Now that Turang and Chourio have won their awards, they will be eligible to win the Platinum Glove Award, which is awarded to the Gold Glove winner deemed to be the best defensive player in their league. Fans are able to vote for themselves if they so choose on Rawlings website. Winners will be announced at the Gold Glove Awards ceremony in New York City on November 6.
