It has been quite the week for the now-No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes and their fans; we have all been dealing with the disappointment surrounding last weekend’s loss to the Texas
Longhorns in Austin. So to get a feel for where Buckeye Nation is in relation to this game, this week we asked The Best Damn Fans in the Land a couple of questions in our weekly fan survey.
The first question was about how fans were dealing with the loss. The second was about who would win — and by how much — in today’s game. Check out the full results below, and if you want to explain your rationale or add another option, head down to the comments and break it down. And if you are itching to get some action, you should head to FanDuel Sportsbook and start making some college football picks, especially since they are the sponsor for today’s article.
Question 1: With a little bit of time, how are you feeling about the loss to Texas?
This was one of the most evenly distributed splits amongst the fans who responded to our survey in quite a while. As a refresher, the full answers were as follows:
– I’m over it; it’s time to focus on the rest of the season.
– Disappointed, but one loss doesn’t end playoff chances.
– I’m moving on, but still extremely concerned by what we saw.
– Frustrated that the same issues are popping up year after year.
– Still pissed they blew a chance for a major win.
– Ready for sweeping changes so this stops happening.
I was probably somewhere between the “I’m moving on, but still extremely concerned by what we saw” and “Frustrated that the same issues are popping up year after year” camps, as evidenced by my pretty pissy postgame column on Saturday night and yesterday’s slightly more hopeful one looking forward.
Ultimately, it looks like there are still a lot of complicated emotions floating around Buckeye Nation over last week’s historic loss, and the only real way for them to be alleviated is for OSU to go out and win, not just against the likes of Kent State, Illinois, or even Iowa, but against Indiana, USC, Oregon, and Michigan as well.
Question 2: What will be the margin of victory in Ohio State vs. Kent State?
In our Kent State game predictions article, I took the Buckeyes to win, 54-3. So, that would put me in the 42-56 point segment that 37% of our respondents were in. But truly, the final score of this game doesn’t really matter. The Buckeyes could win by 25, 35, 45, 55, 65, or even 75 if they wanted to. So, as long as they look good doing it, and there appears to be consideration for what happened last week, I will be happy.
