Bayern knows it must pay Olise (L’Equipe via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich acquired Michael Olise for €55 million and he has been worth every euro.
However, with all of that success comes a responsibility for the Bavarians to reward Olise for his excellence. This is something that Bayern Munich is fully aware of — especially if it wants to keep the vultures away:
Bayern are aware that Michael Olise has taken on another dimension this season, therefore the club wants to put an end to any further speculation by extending the Frenchman’s contract until 2031. Bayern would
like to get the extension done by autumn this year and would be willing to offer Olise nearly double his current salary to make him one of the top earners at the club.
It is inevitable at this point. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are already circling around Olise. After the World Cup, expect Bayern Munich to start getting some proposals in front of Olise.
Barca still could bring back Rashford (ESPN)
FC Barcelona might try to find a way to keep Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford on its roster:
Barcelona are unlikely to activate the €30 million ($34.8m) option to make Marcus Rashford’s loan from Manchester United permanent, but coach Hansi Flick will have the final say with Monday’s deadline to make a decision looming, sources have told ESPN.
Barça have until June 15, as originally revealed by ESPN in April, to tell United if they want to commit to the deal, which is payable in three instalments of €10m.
Sources say they have not heard from the Spanish champions, who have not completely discarded the idea of re-signing Rashford, although after bringing in Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United for €70m there is a growing consensus at the club not to invest as much as €30m in another left winger.
However, Barça would be open to renegotiating a lower fee or even bringing him back on loan for a second season, but ESPN have previously reported that United currently have no intention of dropping their demands.
W@nker-gate! (In All Kind of Weather)
Alexi Lalas sure seemed to unfurl ‘w@nker’ on television and Rebecca Lowe’s reaction was priceless:
Tel to Bournemouth? (TEAMtalk)
Former Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel could be headed to Bournemouth:
Mathys Tel’s future at Tottenham remains open, with sources telling TEAMtalk that a shock move to Premier League rivals Bournemouth is possible for the 21-year-old.
The French forward, who joined Spurs permanently from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2025 for an initial fee of around €35million (£30.2m / $40.5m), is frustrated with his limited role and is considering a move in search of regular first-team football.
Broader interest in Tel from other English clubs and ambitious European sides has been noted by sources, though that interest is considered “light” at the moment.
Tottenham, now under Roberto De Zerbi, would prefer to retain the talented forward as part of their long-term project, with his contract running until 2031.
It does kind of feel like Tel just is not at the requisite level to be a key player on a good team (not that Tottenham Hotspur was a good team last season).
ICYMI: Mexico was all ducked up (FOX Soccer)
This duck rocks:
Chiesa available for €20M (Caught Offside)
Liverpool could be willing to sell Federico Chiesa for €20 million;
Liverpool are open to letting Chiesa go after his relative lack of impact at Anfield, so a departure shouldn’t be too problematic, but of course the Reds won’t want to lose him on the cheap. Sources with a close understanding of the situation inform me that Liverpool will likely ask for around €20m to let Chiesa go, but it’s not yet clear if interested clubs will be prepared to pay that kind of money.
“Liverpool will be open to offers for Chiesa this summer,” one source said. “There will be further talks between the club and the player in pre-season, but the expectation is that he’ll be informed that he can leave.
“Napoli and Como are keeping an eye on the situation, but Liverpool’s asking price is around €20m, so they might explore the possibility of signing him on loan at first. Liverpool’s preference is a permanent sale, but let’s see if they’re open to discussing a loan with an obligation.”
Other sources indicated that Napoli and Como could make concrete moves for Chiesa soon, but a timeline is a little vague at the moment.
Chiesa is the modern example of a guy who suffered a terrible ACL injury and just never got back to what he was. It is a damned shame because at his best, brother, Chiesa was a special player.
Bayern really wanted Ngomuha (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Bayern Munich was a big fan of Liverpool attacker Rio Ngumoha, but has come to grips with the fact that it will not get him:
✅ It is TRUE: Bayern Munich were concretely interested in Rio Ngumoha. There were rumours that his brother, who is involved in his career around transfers, was at Säbener Straße for talks and signalled that the winger would be interested in going to Bayern Munich, and it would be no issue in sorting out contract details and the salary. FC Bayern had a very clear signal when they knocked on the door at Liverpool that there would be no time or reason for talks; there would be no negotiations. They’re so convinced about the player and his potential that they signalled he wouldn’t be sold. It won’t happen.
